Eva reviews… “Hooray for Amanda and her Alligator!”

The publisher says… 6½ stories about 2 surprising friends. Having a stuffed alligator for a best friend can be surprising. Sometimes Amanda surprises her alligator with books. Sometimes Alligator surprises Amanda by eating them. But what happens when Amanda brings home a special—and not entirely welcome—surprise? The result might be unexpected indeed. Beloved author-illustrator Mo Willems has created a funny and tender portrait of friendship that readers of any age will love.

Eva says… That guy who does the Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie [Mo Willems] REALLY did a good one THIS time! Because this one is like SEVEN books in one! Because it’s not just ONE story, but a whole bunch of LITTLE stories all strung together. THAT’S better than a NOVEL!!

04childrens-review-1-articleLargeAll these stories are about this girl Amanda and her alligator, who’s not really a real one but she pretends he is. And she has a panda too, but that’s not until the end. Mainly this one is about Amanda and that alligator, and them playing and him surprising the girl and her surprising HIM, and he even eats her head, which is TOTALLY crazy!!

I love Elephant and Piggie, but this one might be my favorite ever by this guy, and I MEAN that! Because this is the biggie: I’M kind of like that girl Amanda!! I mean, she has an alligator and I have a donkey, and she has brown hair and mine’s blonde. But she loves BOOKS and she’s always READING. And that’s like me. So that makes this one EXTRA good!!

Eva’s rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ (out of 5)
